Metanovas Biotech was founded in 2021, located in Shanghai and Boston. Metanovas combines advanced machine learning with cutting-edge science to decipher complex disease biology, generate novel insights and discover more effective medicines. Metanovas has a team [p;of talents from cross-disciplinary backgrounds in AI/ML, biology, drug discovery science, and bioinformatics. Our AI team has researchers and industry veterans from MIT, Stanford, Google, Facebook, Amazon, and NVIDIA. The bioinformatics department of Metanovas Inc. is focused on applying AI and bioinformatics algorithms on multi-omics data facilitating target identification and drug discovery. We are looking for talented Bioinformatics Scientists to join our team. You will focus on omics data collection, integration, quality control, and develop computational methods that leverage the Metanovas omic platform to investigate disease mechanisms and target identification. You will be part of the cross-functional team who are the experts for biological, chemical, and bioinformatics scientists.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide expertise in the collection, quality control, and integration from public bioinformatics databases.

2. Develop computational approaches and work together with software engineers to leverage our omics platform to investigate disease mechanisms, recommend drug targets.

3. Collaborate and communicate effectively with a diverse team of biologists, experimentalists, clinicians, data scientists, and AI scientists to address key drug development problems and achieve our strategic goals.

Requirements:

1. PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science, Biomedical sciences or related field of research with at least 1-year industry experience. Or MS in related field with 3-year experience, and BS in related field with 6-year experience.

2. Knowledge and experience of common bioinformatics databases and resources, e.g. GEO,ENCODE,TCGA,DepMap,OMIM, gnomAD, and ClinVar, etc.

3. Hands-on experience with multi-omics data analysis pipeline and bioinformatics software

4. Ability to integrate multiple data sources and streams into unified data files

5. Solid understanding of NGS data quality control.

6. Strong data visualization skills.

7. Fluency in one or more relevant programming languages, such as R/Python/Perl/Shell.

8. Familiarity with MySQL and WEB-API is a plus.

9. Strong problem-solving and creative thinking.

10. Very good communication skills demonstrated in interdisciplinary teams.

11. Familiar with Docker, Snakemake, machine learning, AI, and drug target development is a strong plus.

Responsibility:

Develop NLP algorithms to extract important information from biomedical literature. Apply advanced models to tackle various text mining tasks: name entity recognition, dependency parsing, relation extraction and text summarization etc.

Develop and apply state-of-art machine learning models to solve critical problems in drug discovery. Conduct exploratory research in novel models and algorithms.
